The newsletter

Subscribing takes you to a signup form hosted by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which is where you give your email address and choose what you agree to receive. Your information is transferred to Mailchimp for processing, and Mailchimp sends a confirmation email that you must click before anything else is sent to you — if you do not confirm, you are not subscribed.

Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link in its footer, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We use your address only to send the newsletter; we do not sell it or pass it to anyone other than Mailchimp.

The contact form

The contact form does not send anything to this website. It opens a pre-filled message in your own email application, which you then send yourself — so nothing you type is stored or processed here, and you can edit or discard it before sending. Once you send it, we hold that email the way we hold any other correspondence.

Hosting, and what a visit records

The site is served from shared hosting behind Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network. As with any website, the web server and Cloudflare record standard request information — including your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user-agent string — for delivery, security and abuse prevention.

Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. That request is made by your browser directly to Google's servers and therefore discloses your IP address to Google.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no local storage. There is no analytics, no advertising and no cross-site tracking, which is why you are not asked to accept anything when you arrive.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
